ADVOCACY FOR GOD’S BEAUTIFUL CREATION

Our children and grandchildren will bear the brunt of global warming from fossil fuel

The just concluded COP30 in Brazil showed clearly the great need for ADVOCACY for the environment, as those profiting from fossil fuel sales are not going to easily allow the transition (even though it is clear that they don’t care for their own children and grandchildren who will also bear the brunt of global warming from their fossil fuel)!

Hence, besides personally adopting solar energy and giving up plastics and conserving water and committing ourselves to the other ecological musts, each one of us needs to spread awareness of what fossil fuel is doing to the globe and use all our influence with our local representatives to bring about a change in local and global policy towards a just transition away from fossil fuel and towards a protection of our natural forests (commercial forests are not sufficient).

What is advocacy?

  • It is the deliberate act of speaking out, supporting or taking action on behalf of a cause, community or individual to influence decisions and drive social or political change.
  • It involves raising awareness, engaging stakeholders and pushing for policies or reforms that align with justice, equity and human rights.
  • At its core, Advocacy is about amplifying voices, challenging injustices and ensuring that the concerns of marginalised, vulnerable and under-represented groups are acknowledged and addressed by society, institutions and policy makers.

ADVOCACY is an ongoing process aimed at changing attitudes, actions, policies and laws by influencing people in power, systems and structures at different levels for the betterment of those affected by the issues. It requires a high degree of Contemplation, Compassion, Collaboration, Courage and Commitment.

This section of the website offers, the concerned citizen, resources which can be used for increasing one’s own awareness and that of others, as well as for taking actions that will influence public policy, even if in small ways.            Each one of us can make a difference!
